 “Quicker and shorter recovery time!“

“Incisionless – Without the need for an incision through the skin!”

“Less complications risk compared with open or laparoscopic surgery”

What is ESG?

ESG is a new weight-loss procedure known as Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG). It is an endoscopic procedure using flexible camera to reduce the size of the stomach by folding and putting multiple full-thickness stitched together. It reduces distensibility of stomach, delays gastric emptying and provides early satiety feeling for patients.

ESG can be part of a weight-loss plan to reduce the risk of obesity-related chronic illness such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver disease, sleep apnea or heart disease. This procedure is especially effective when combined with behavioral therapy, exercise and dietary changes.

Who is best suited for ESG?

Patients with obesity who are unable to achieve weight loss through exercises and dietary lifestyle modifications. It is an alternative option for patients who do not qualify or do not wish to undergo bariatric surgery.

What is the difference between Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) and Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy (LSG)?

In Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG), 70-80% of the stomach volume is reduced by sewing it along the greater curvature, whereas in Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy (LSG), 80-85% of the stomach is cut along the great curvature and completely removed from the body to provide permanent tube-like stomach.

How long does ESG (Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty) last?

The procedure takes around one to 2 hours (60 to 120 minutes). Although ESG does not require surgical incisions, you will be put under general anesthesia to help you calm and ensure safety during the procedure.

What to expect after ESG?

Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty

Like other weight loss procedures, ESG works best and achieves long-term success weight loss when you commit to a healthier lifestyle. You might experience a stomachache, nausea and vomiting after the procedure, but this is usually temporary. If necessary, your doctor will give you medication to reduce these symptoms while you recover.

What is the diet plan after ESG?

After ESG, dietary restrictions plan will be recommended as the following:

First eight hours: No food — Only clear liquids

First week: Liquid diet with powdered protein. Avoid caffeine or alcohol

Second week: Soft foods that can be mashed with a fork

After a month:  Small portions of solid food (Low sugar and fat)

Is ESG Reliable?

More than 15,000 procedures have been performed worldwide with more than 1,500 scientific research evidences published. People who had ESG lose approximately 12% to 20% of their body weight within one year.

It is important to understand that although the procedure is effective, you can achieve the best weight loss results in conjunction with comprehensive weight loss programme – exercise, healthy diet plan and behavioural therapy.
