In 2005, Dr Tan was awarded the Ministry of Health HMDP (Health Manpower Development Programme) scholarship to pursue a fellowship in Colorectal Surgery. This training was completed at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia. This was a comprehensive and well-rounded colorectal fellowship programme, encompassing all the important aspects of colorectal surgery. Dr Tan has extensive experience in minimally invasive colorectal and general surgical procedures, treatment of colorectal cancers and benign colorectal diseases, complex perianal disorders and functional bowel disorders.
Dr Tan in an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. She is actively involved in the teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates. She has many research interests, and has participated in clinical and laboratory studies. She has won research awards, and published articles in many international journals. Dr Tan has been an invited speaker at many local and international surgical meetings.

Dr Jane Tan graduated from the Faulty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore in 1997. She completed her surgical training in General Surgery in 2005, having obtained the qualifications of MRCS (Edin) and M.Med (Surgery) along the way.
She was admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, in 2005
